An evergreen shrub that is compact, branching and vigorous, with melliferous light pink flowers that turn white in autumn. Very fruit-bearing when young. Edible fruit in late autumn and winter, yellow to red. Known as Chinese strawberries, they are often eaten when fully ripe at the time of the first frosts. Very decorative, reddish-brown, peeling bark. Decorative reddish young shoots. Healthy plant. Can grow to over 3m with age.
