This variety interests me
Quick growth and remarkable flowering starting on young plants. Beautiful lavender coloured florescences in April, scented and melliferous. A rounded and even habit, perfect for creating shaded areas. A large number of light brown floral buds decorating the tree in autumn. Plant on streets and parks in towns or in gardens, even small ones. This Paulownia offers an early and spectacular flowering, a whole week before the Paulownia tomentosa. Later one can observe in April large, lavender-blue and decorative florescences, before the appearance of leaves. From autumn to spring, furry, light brown floral buds appear. After the flowers, large, heart shaped leaves of 20-25 cm long and 15-20cm in width, will emerge. The naturally rounded habit, the fast growth and the large dark green leaves are perfect for developing shaded spots in towns.Pruning very short may be done each year at the end of winter, to obtain more branches and larger leaves. This type of pruning permits a larger width and suppress flowering. An easy to maintain plant if given enough water, fertilizer and warmth.Fortunei means that the leaves are smaller than the tomentosa variety, an asset for local communities.
