Silver medal at Warsaw exhibition Green is Life ! A more upright and vigourous improvement of the Ginkgo biloba ‘Blagon’ cov ! Very resistant to pollution, pests and diseases, it adapts to any type of soil and to small spaces ! The gold autumn colours and hardiness make this exceptional Ginkgo very attractive ! The Ginkgo biloba, or Maidenhair GOLD FLAME® was selected in France by Desmartis Nursery more than 15 years ago. It is an improvement of the ‘Blagon’ cov variety, with a straighter and pyramidal bearing, tighter fitting branches, growing at an angle of 35°. The Ginkgo has existed on Earth for over 200 million years and has resisted climate changes over that period, from the Ice Age to radiations, proving hardiness in the most difficult conditions. It is the oldest existing species of its family ! In comparison to the ‘Blagon’cov, it has been noted, the GOLD FLAME® has never borne fruit in over 15 years of existence. It has a good resistancy to cold temperatures, down to -30°c, and once established, also to droughts. The Ginkgo GOLD FLAME® needs little maintenance and adapts well to growing in lines or isolated, incontainers or flowerbeds. It is also a considerable asset when planning urban areas, due to its slim width and resistancy to pollution.
